After a few years away, the Bridge2Bridge Splash Swim made a triumphant return to Bairnsdale in 2024, bringing back one of Gippsland’s most loved river swims. This 2.5 km downstream journey along the Mitchell River captures the friendly, community-first spirit of country swimming at its best.
It’s an easy-flowing, scenic swim that threads through the heart of Bairnsdale, from the Lind Bridge in Wy Yung down to the Howitt Park Rowing Club jetty, finishing under the Howitt Park Rail Trail Bridge.
Whether you’re swimming solo, teaming up with family, or rallying a group of friends, it’s an event that celebrates participation and shared adventure.
There’s a relaxed local vibe here, swimmers cheer each other on, locals gather on the banks, and the riverside lawns fill with smiles, chatter, and plenty of post-swim stories.
