Fingal Mile ocean swims are a fun set of open water events held at the beautiful Fingal Beach, near Port Stephens.
Whether it's for fun or for fitness, athletes as young as 12 years of age can take part in either a 1.6km or 850m swim.
Being a protected bay, the location is ideal for the ocean event as it is shielded by the inland to the north and point to the south. The courses follow simple circuits making it a viable event for swimmers of all abilities.
Stay for the weekend and discover and enjoy all the sites and activities the area has to offer. Take a surfing lesson, hire a bike and explore the coastline, relish breathtaking views at Tomaree Headland Lookout, and devour local, home-grown produce.
Fingal Beach is the perfect venue for an open water event. The protected bay is shielded by the inland to the north and point to the south.
There are two events on offer: a 1.6km swim or for those less-confident athletes there is an 850m race.
The swims follow simple circuits and are suitable for those new to the sport as well as more competitive ocean swimmers. To take part athletes must be at least 12 years old.
While in the area, why not hang around and explore the beauty of Fingal Bay and Port Stephens.
The Fingal Head Lighthouse is well worth the walk. The views are sensational.
Bring your board, hire one or take a surfing lesson at some of the most beautiful surf beaches in NSW from Samurai and One Mile to Birubi Beach, Zenith and Box Beach.
You can't miss the Worimi Conservation Lands, or the Stockton Bight Sand Dunes. Stretching 32km, discover the dunes by foot, camel, horse, in your own 4WD, on a quad bike or on a tour. There aren't many places you can sandboard down 40m high dunes!
