The Mooloolaba Mile ocean swim has grown into a premier event in Queensland, and is now part of a two-day Mooloolaba Beach Festival that is a celebration of sand, surf and beach culture.
The program of events offers a range of experiences, including four ocean swims, paddling events that both elites and weekend paddlers will enjoy, and community events that the whole family, of any age, can participate in.
The main event, a one mile (1.6km) course, is an iconic open water distance around the globe for elite swimmers, but is also well within reach for beginner and novice ocean swimmers.
The weekend also includes a Half Mile (800m), 2.5km, 5km Grand Prix and junior swims.
Join series ambassador Michael Klim on the start line and conquer Mooloolaba!
A short sharp swim around a shorter set of buoys close to the beach is just the thing to get the little kids into ocean swimming - and if they're lucky they'll be joined by Olympic legend Michael Klim!
The kids course is the same as the Mooloolaba Mile course and kids can be joined by friends and family to cheer them along!
Half Mile swimmers will join the Mooloolaba Mile course at the halfway mark, swim out behind the breakers to the final turn then back to the beach for a sprint to the finish.
Beginning at Mooloolaba's South-Eastern end (The Spit), the One Mile course (1.6km) follows an M shaped path north towards the finish line near the Mooloolaba SLSC.
The course starts at Alex Beach and follows the headland around to Mooloolaba Beach, finishing in front of the famous Loo-with-a-view.
The course starts at Mooloolaba Beach, travels north towards a turn at Alex Beach, then returns following the headland back to the finish at Mooloolaba. The field is limited to only 200 swimmers.
