Have you been chasing that opportunity to cast aside all worries, embrace everything that is natural and let it all hang out? Then the Sydney Skinny Ocean Swim is for you.
Dreamt up by adman Nigel Marsh, of 'Fat, Forty and Fired' fame, the Sydney Skinny mission is to '...help make the world a slightly nicer place - one swimmer at a time... [and] for everyone to come out of the ocean feeling more optimistic, happier and connected.'
As far as the ocean swimming event calendar goes, this swim is by and far the most unique, and really well organised - it's definitely not a crude nude swim, it's much more than that.
We will never do it justice here, so we implore you to check out the official website that is chock-a-block with information to alleviate your anxiety and get you one step closer to realising your naked ambition.
The event itself is located on Cobblers Beach, Middle Head in the Sydney Harbour National Park.
The north-west facing beach is protected from the breeze providing for calm idyllic water conditions.
There are two distances on offer, 300m and 900m, and there is not a timing device in sight, instead swimmers are sent off in waves to enjoy the swim at their own pace.
The Sydney Skinny swim is a short 900m swim, around the diamond shaped course in the calm and sheltered waters of Middle Head.
The Novice swim is an even shorter 300m swim, to a point in the centre of the Sydney Skinny course and back.
This short 300m out-and-back course heads out into the harbour straight from the beach, around a buoy and back to the beach. It's the swim for non-swimmers, or the warm up? or just another excuse to get nude and swim.
A calm 900m swim around a diamond shaped course in the sheltered waters of Middle Head.
The event has a festival feel to it, so you won't need anything else to add to your day.
Swimmers will have plenty to enjoy, including 'natural' stalls, giveaways, music and food and drink.
There aren't any spectators at this event, so everyone you'll talk to after the event will have completed it... you can choose whether to keep your clothes on or not after... actually, no you can't.
There is very limited parking within the National Park but there is all day parking along Middle Head Road, parking spaces at George's Heights Oval and there is limited metered parking at Middle Head National Park.
You can also arrive by ferry that leave from Circular Quay, Wharf 2 from 9:00am, arriving at Taronga Zoo Wharf. Sydney Skinny buses will be on rotation between the Taronga Zoo Wharf, Mosman Junction and Middle Head until 2:00pm. This ferry route is known as the F2 route.
Free Shuttle Bus - All ticket holders will have access to The Sydney Skinny free shuttle busses that run continuously on the day between 8:00am and 1:00pm.
For a full rundown of the transport options visit the transport section of the Sydney Skinny website.
The Sydney Skinny is not a race and is untimed, therefore there are no results.
