I have returned to swimming regular laps after a 25 year break. My only ocean swim was 25 years ago and it was a bad experience as I was stung by blue bottles. It was only a 500 meter swim off Shelley Beach.

I don’t live close to the beach so swim laps in the local 50 metre pool in Lane Cove. I swim 2-3 times a week and do 1500-1800 each session. My aim is to get to 2km per session three times a week.

I have entered the Newport swim, 400 metres, on 8th January and am looking for a buddy who can give me advice and support as I increase my distance and confidence.

I am doing a 3 hour course for ocean swimming on 7th January at Bondi Beach to prepare me for ocean swimming.
