Why this event?

A place to feel good, jetty to jetty, together.

The Coogee Jetty to Jetty Swim is one of those swims that just feels good. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and built around community, not competition. Whether you’re an experienced ocean swimmer, a social lapper, or dipping your toes into ocean swimming for the first time, this event makes everyone feel right at home.

Set in the calm, clear waters of Coogee Beach, the day has a proper family feel, with kids, parents, friends, workmates and swim crews all sharing the same stretch of coast. You’ll spot plenty of smiles, plenty of encouragement, and maybe even Daphne the Duck and her friends cheering you on along the way.

Choose your distance, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy the simple joy of swimming from jetty to jetty. Add in spot prizes, giveaways, kids’ activities and a cracking breakfast afterwards, and you’ve got a swim day that’s as much about connection as it is about the water.

This is ocean swimming as a lifestyle, accessible, social, and designed to make you want to come back year after year.

What's on offer

250m Ocean Swim
  • Try It Swim
  • years
The 250m Try-It Swim is a straight-line, jetty-to-jetty style course designed to feel safe, simple, and confidence-boosting. Swimmers start in shallow water off Coogee Beach, entering the water from the shore and heading out toward the offshore marker buoy. From the start, the course follows a clearly marked diagonal line across calm, protected water, making it easy to sight and stay on track. Swimmers round the turn buoy near Daphne the Duck before heading back toward shore, where the finish chute funnels you neatly between the final markers and under the finish boom. The swim finishes close to the beach, flowing directly into the finish chute and recovery zone on the sand. With the course set close to shore, excellent visibility, and plenty of water safety support, this is a relaxed and welcoming swim that’s perfect for first-timers, kids, and anyone keen to enjoy a fun introduction to ocean swimming.
750m Ocean Swim
  • years
The 750m swim follows a clean, easy-to-navigate jetty-to-jetty style course, offering a step up in distance while keeping things calm, supported, and confidence-boosting. Swimmers start from the beach at Coogee, entering the water and lining up on the imaginary start line marked by the start buoy just offshore. From the start, the course heads diagonally across the protected waters toward Woodman Point Jetty. Brightly coloured guide buoys help with sighting along the way, making it simple to stay on course and settle into a comfortable rhythm. Around halfway, swimmers pass the clearly marked “half-way” buoy, a great mental checkpoint before continuing toward the finish. As you approach the shore, the course gently funnels toward Daphne the Duck, the final turning buoy, before guiding swimmers between the black-and-white approach buoys and through the finish chute. The finish boom sits close to the jetty, leading straight into the recovery zone on the sand.
1.5km Ocean Swim
  • years
The 1500m Classic is the traditional jetty-to-jetty swim and the longest course on the day, offering a rewarding, scenic ocean swim in calm, protected conditions. Swimmers start at Coogee Beach Jetty, lining up on the imaginary start line marked by the yellow duck start buoys just offshore before heading out into the course. From the start, the swim follows a clear diagonal line across the bay toward Woodman Point Jetty. Course marker guide buoys are spaced along the way to make sighting straightforward and help swimmers stay relaxed and on track. Midway through the course, swimmers pass the clearly marked half-way buoy, a great mental milestone before settling in for the second half of the swim. As you approach the finish, the course angles gently toward shore and Daphne the Duck, the final turning buoy, guiding swimmers neatly into the finish approach. Black-and-white buoys and approach barriers funnel swimmers toward the finish boom near Woodman Point Jetty, before exiting through the finish chute and into the recovery zone on the sand.
