The 3.2km (mostly fast swimmers) start first at 10am, followed by the 2400m swimmers. Then the (mostly slower) swimmers start and many of these people will not encounter too much traffic over 1 or 2 laps.

Everything about this event is designed toward catering for entry-level as well as experienced open water swimmers – and in the no-boating zone.
