The Great Bayside Swim is more than just a swim; it’s a celebration of community, summer, and seaside spirit. Set in the heart of Melbourne’s beautiful Brighton Beach, this event has something for everyone, whether you’re toe-dipping for the first time or chasing a new PB out in the bay.
Previously known as the Great Australia Day Swim, this refreshed event continues a beloved local tradition, with a modern twist. It’s the kind of swim where families, friends, and seasoned surfers all line up together, ready to make the most of a salty summer morning. With distances ranging from a 200m splash-and-dash to the 2.5km long course, every swimmer can find their stride and share the joy of ocean swimming.
And the location? You’ll be diving in just off the sand of Brighton Beach, with the famous Brighton Bathing Boxes and city skyline as your backdrop. The water is typically calm and welcoming, perfect for swimmers of all levels, and the beachside setup is full of good vibes.
It’s not just about the swim, either. The day features live music, local food trucks, market stalls, beach games, and loads of opportunities to relax or cheer on your mates. Whether you’re racing or just soaking it all in, the buzz on the sand is as good as the splash in the water.
Even better? Every entry goes toward supporting the Brighton Rotary’s community projects, meaning your swim helps fund important local initiatives.
So bring your crew, bring your sunscreen, and be part of a feel-good, do-good event that perfectly captures the spirit of a classic Aussie summer’s day by the bay.
