Bondi Icebergs is the oldest and largest winter swimming club in Australia. The club was formed in 1929 and in 1960 became the only licensed winter swimming club in the world. In 1995 the first female members were admitted. The current club house was opened in 2002.
There are over 1000 adult swimming members plus some 300 juniors, Cubes, aged 5-17.
Season starts the first Sunday in May and finishes last Sunday in September.
Unlike other clubs the Bergs have a very strict regulation for swimming members with members required to complete 75 swims over five years.
Notable swimmers include Neil Rogers, Robbie Woodhouse, Joel Maybury and Rugby international Sparrow Dowse.
