Harbord Frigid Frogs

About Harbord Frigid Frogs

The Frogs started in 1963 as an auxiliary club of the Harbord Diggers Swimming Club which was sponsored by the Harbord Diggers.

There were 11 original swimmers from the Diggers Club that were the foundation members of the Frogs. Events were held at the Freshwater rock-pool. The membership quickly grew with an inflow of swimmers from the surrounding surf clubs – Manly, North Steyne, Queenscliff & Freshwater.

In the early 1980’s the club moved its operations to the South Curl Curl Rockpool with our clubrooms overlooking the arena where it currently swims every Sunday morning at 10.00 am with a 9.30 am report time.

Our season starts the first Sunday after Easter & finishes the last Sunday in September.

In recent times our membership numbers have been in the range of 80 to 90 swimmers.

Our swimmers have included former Olympians, Australian representatives in both swimming & surf as well as many rugby union & league players who have performed at the highest level for their state & country.

Since formal records for the association were introduced in 1976 the club has won the overall points score at the Australian Winter Swimming Championships 13 times!
