I don't have great technique but I'm a competent swimmer. I swim 3-4 times per week. Ocean swimming is usually Manly-Shelley and laps of the basin at Mona Vale. In the pool, I swim 1.5km in under 30mins. I'm often slower in the ocean as I take time to enjoy the swim (Manly-Shelly return usually takes me 40 mins). I'm not confident in strong swells - I head to the rockpools when the ocean isn't calm. However, I'm not deterred by lower air or water temperatures and swim all year round (in a wetsuit!) Looking to pick up extra ocean swims and prefer to have a buddy when heading into open water.
