There are four swim distances in total. You can take part in a 400m event, a 1km event, a 2km event, and a “Dash for Dinner” 250m sprint. All swimmers 18 years and over will automatically be registered in the “Dash for Dinner” sprint.

The beauty of the swim course location is that it’s a gentle swim.

There can be a bit of a swell rolling through the bay entrance, but that’s probably not going to raise the difficulty factor of this swim too much.

Because it’s sheltered by reef and the curve of the bay, there’s unlikely to be many rips to contend with either.

All in all, the Toowoon Bay Ocean Swim is the perfect swim to ease yourself into these kinds of events.

Mingara Recreation Club – Situated between the cities of Sydney and Newcastle, a stop on the way to the Bay, or heading home, Mingara has state of the art facilities, restaurants and bars, sport on the big screen, even an indoor pool to swim a few laps if that is more your thing!

Golfers, we’ve got you covered too, with the Shelly Beach Golf Club in striking distance to the Club – in fact, you could wheel your bag from your car parked at the beach.

Diggers The Entrance is just a short 2 minute drive away at Long Jetty and apart from scrumptious meals, has accommodation with rooms overlooking the stunning Tuggerah Lakes. Secure your room!

There are three beach carparks surrounding the surf club and loads of on-street parking in nearby residential streets.

Pre-Race Briefings and Safety Awareness

A pre-race briefing for each event will be conducted at the starting line.

The swimmer’s physical condition is their responsibility.

Water Safety and safety craft will patrol the course throughout the event. Swim protocol is to move to the side of the course and raise your hand straight above your head if you are in difficulty.

Please BYO water bottle, the local Council water station will be located on the beach for refills.
