The Macquarie Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim returns in 2026 to celebrate a remarkable milestone, 25 years of one of Australia’s most iconic ocean swims.
This year’s event takes place in November, in a one-off move from its traditional December date, ensuring the best possible experience for swimmers, volunteers and supporters during a unique period on the Bondi calendar. While the date has changed for 2026, the event is expected to return to its usual December timeslot next year.
The swim itself returns to its much-loved traditional direction, taking you 2.1km from Bondi Beach to Bronte Beach around spectacular Mackenzies Point. Along the way you’ll enjoy Sydney’s most famous stretch of coastline, passing sandstone cliffs, ocean pools and crystal-clear water before arriving at Bronte’s welcoming finish line.
To mark the occasion, the popular 5km event is also back, along with special finish line celebrations honouring the thousands of swimmers, volunteers and supporters who have helped make Bondi to Bronte a fixture on the Australian ocean swimming calendar.
Whether it’s your first Bondi to Bronte or your twenty-fifth, this anniversary edition promises everything the event is famous for: breathtaking scenery, a vibrant community atmosphere and the unforgettable feeling of swimming between two of Australia’s most iconic beaches.
Be part of the celebration and help write the next chapter in the history of this legendary ocean swim.

Perfect for building confidence and getting one step closer to the big league B2B swim when they hit 13.

The Bondi Bay Swim is your ticket. This 1km hit-out is perfect for first-time ocean swimmers, those looking for a fast, fun challenge, or anyone keen to get the arms moving before the main event.
It’s cruisy, splashy, and a whole lot of Bondi magic in one loop.
The main event. The one and only. This year, the coastal classic returns to its traditional direction, starting on the golden sands of Bondi Beach before heading south around spectacular Mackenzies Point and along Sydney’s breathtaking eastern coastline to the welcoming shores of Bronte.
You’ll swim past rugged sandstone cliffs, reefs and the famous surf breaks of Tamarama before sighting the finish arch on Bronte Beach. It’s one of Australia’s most iconic ocean swims, and in 2026 you’ll be part of a special chapter as the event celebrates its 25th anniversary.
If you’re after an epic ocean adventure, this one’s for you. Starting at Bondi, you’ll first head north to a turning buoy at Ben Buckler, then down the coast past Bronte Reef, all the way to Bronte Beach, then turn around and do it all again in reverse, finishing back on Bondi’s sand.
Open to all registered Bronte-to-Bondi swimmers, it’s winner-takes-all: $500 each for the first male and female across the line. No second place, no consolation — just pure surf sprinting and plenty of entertainment.
