    More Information

On offer at this event is a swim distance for everyone from those new to ocean swimming all the way to the seasoned ocean swimming veterans.

Newport Beach is an open beach, with shifting breaks, gutters, and rips meaning it can pose a challenge at times, but for the most part, you’ll find it completely manageable. Its intensity really depends on the tides, winds, and swell, with a reef off the southern end of the beach offering protection from some swells from the South East.

    • 7:30 am – Registration opens (Surf club)
    • 8:30 am – 400m
    • 9:00 am – 800m Open Waves
    • 9:00 am – 800m Skins, Fins & Friends Wave
    • 9:30 am – 2km

Registrations close 30 minutes before the start of each swim distance.

Newport has a lovely un-spoilt shopping village dotted with cafes & restaurants.

There is also the option of enjoying lunch at the Royal Motor Yacht Club on Pittwater or at The Newport (formerly know affectionately as the Arms). For those who have not seen Pittwater, it is one of the most desirable locations in Sydney known for its natural beauty.

Further north there are beautiful beaches with cafes & restaurants and you might enjoy a drive to Palm Beach to discover more fantastic scenery.

There is bus transport from Wynyard & Manly as well as a ferry from Circular Quay to link with the bus from Manly.

For those travelling by car, the best option is to park at Porter Reserve which is on the left as you start to go up the hill from Newport Beach. There is a lot of parking at the beach but unfortunately, Council no longer provides free parking for swimmers and you will have to pay. Street parking is limited but you could try that option.

Please allow enough time to get to the event in time for registration.

    • All entrants will be provided with a swim cap and a timing anklet
    • Swimmers will have their registration number placed on their arm
    • It is essential that all swimmers go through the finish gate on completion of the swim
    • If you don’t finish or are picked up by safety craft you will still need to go to the finish area to have the timing anklet removed, to account for all swimmers.

    About

The Newport Pool To Peak Ocean Swim, brought to you by Harris Farm, is the first Sydney ocean swim of the new year and one to kick off your ocean swimming new year’s resolution in style!

Organised by experienced ocean swimmers, the Pool to Peak is known as the friendly and affordable swims with an emphasis on safety & fun.

The swim takes place at Newport Beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, located a 35-minute drive from Sydney’s CBD.

This ocean swim offers three different swim distances; 400m for 10 years and over, 800m for 13 years and over and 2km for 13 years and over. Great prizes are available via a lucky swimmer draw and medals are presented to category winners and placegetters. Fresh fruit is provided for swimmers on their return to the beach and there is a succulent BBQ.

If you’re after a good coffee and late breakfast or lunch after your ocean swim, head to the popular cluster of cafes on either Barrenjoey Road or Robertson Road.
