About

The Point Leo Swim Classic has been running for over 30 years and is the first event of the season in the Great Victorian Swim Series.

Held on Boxing Day, at Point Leo Beach, Point Leo, Victoria, this event is a great opportunity to work off the Christmas feast and enjoy a day at the beach with the family.

This ocean swim offers three different swim distances; 400m for 8 years and over, 1.2km for 12 years and over and 2.5km for 12 years and over.

The sandy beach location provides a gorgeous backdrop with a laid-back atmosphere to enjoy the event in the middle of the Australian summer.

For those wanting to stay out of the water, but eager to get amongst the action, there is also a 4km beach run on offer.

This event is the first event in the Great Victorian Swim Series for the season.

On offer at this event is a swim distance for everyone from those new to ocean swimming all the way to our experienced ocean swimmers.

The 400m Nipper and Novice Ocean Swims is a great starting point for those new to open water and are wanting to build up their experience before tackling the 1.2km swim.

The 1.2km ocean swim course is a simple circuit out and around the buoys and back. There will be one leg on the swim that is up to 600m long, depending on the condition on the day.

The 2.5km ocean swim takes place on the same course as the 1.2km Point Leo Swim Classic, with swimmers completing two laps of the course to finish the race. This event does have a cut off time of 1.5 hours which will be enforced. Any swimmers who have not completed the swim in 1.5 hours will be pulled from the water. This course is a great warm up for the main event of the day, the 1.2km Point Leo Swim Classic.

The Paton Estate Agents 4km Beach Run will see participants start at Point Leo SLSC Clubhouse before heading towards Crunchy Point where participants will turn around to come back past the clubhouse and head up to Honeysuckle Point, where they will turn around and repeat the course once more before finishing in front of the clubhouse.

Parking is available in the Point Leo Surf Lifesaving Club car park or in the Point Leo Reserve for $4 per car
