While You're There

Bermagui is a scenic coastal town – 3 hours drive from Canberra and 5 and 1/2 hours from Sydney. A scenic holiday destination famous for its stunning landscape, pristine waterways and beautiful beaches.

Bermagui also offers a variety of cafes, restaurants, bakeries, pub, club, brewery and boutiques as well as a championship 18 hole golf course, iconic ocean pools and a variety of accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes. Visitors to Bermagui can enjoy boating, fishing, bike riding, bush walking/running, surfing, paddling, golf, tennis, swimming – most of which are offered as part of the ReBoot program.

Nearby towns of Narooma and Tilba also offer holiday accommodation.

With October being the peak whale season as they migrate south with their offspring it is a sight not to be missed.

Bermagui is the perfect destination for a ReBoot into spring.

Travel & Parking

There is ample parking in the town and at the event and parking is free.

Bus services operate from Canberra and Sydney, and Moruya Airport is an hour north of Bermagui and Merimbula Airport an hour south.

Prizes

Open Male and Open Female Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters in each event.

All competitors receive a free ReBoot in Bermagui Swim Cap and Free healthy breakfast served between 8 am and 11 am at the Bermagui Surf Life Saving Club.

About

ReBoot in Bermagui is an annual event held on the long weekend in October in the stunning landscape of Bermagui on the far south coast of NSW.

Held over two days, the event includes various outdoor activities, the main events being the fun runs and the ocean swims.

The ocean swims are held in the pristine waters of Horseshoe Bay in Bermagui – a north-facing beach overlooked by Gulaga Mountain – an ideal location for beginner and seasoned ocean swimmers alike.

There are two swims – the 350m swim across the bay and, for the first time in 2024, a longer ocean swim of 1.2km around a safe course inside the idyllic Horseshoe Bay.

With full support from the surf club and Marine Rescue Services, and professional timing, this is an ideal event to kick off your season of ocean swimming.

Entry Includes a swim cap, and Sunday Bermagui Breakfast served at the Surf Club between 8 am and 11 am.

350m Ocean Swim

Swim Across Horseshoe Bay

The swim starts from the western end of the beach and finishes at the eastern end with a short run up the sand to the finish line. Ideal for less confident, first time ocean swimmers or those who just want the experience of a timed ocean swimming event without the long distance.

1.2km Ocean Swim

Swim Around Horseshoe Bay

This swim takes swimmers around a rectangular buoyed course in Horseshoe Bay ending with a short run on the sand to the finish line at the eastern end of the beach. Depending on conditions the course will be either one and a half or two laps around the buoys.
