A short drive from Sydney you’ll find one of the South Coast’s most fun and varied ocean swim events – the multi-event Splash Wollongong.

Held at Illawarra’s beautiful Wollongong Harbour, and celebrating its 10th anniversary, Splash Wollongong offers a fun mix of open water swims and aquathons.

All swims are held within the picturesque, safe and mostly-protected Wollongong Harbour with distances for all levels to enjoy. One of the greatest benefits, especially for those coming from out of town, is that the swim will always be on – owing to the sheltered swim location.

Splash Wollongong will appeal to first-timers as well as those out to test themselves. A great local vibe, safety-focused, picturesque location, professional services, awards and finisher medals make this a perfect swim to try out.

Course Descriptions

Open water swims

With three fun swim experiences, the Mckeon’s Swim School Wollongong Open Water+ Swims are the Illawarra’s premier ocean swims.

Perfect for swimmers of all tastes, there is a mix of more sheltered open water swims that stay within the harbour walls, with a 400m or two lap 800m option and the marquee 2km ‘open water+’ offers a fantastic 1km circuit completed twice which extends out of the harbour, into the ocean/open water passing behind the historic continental swimming baths and back into the harbour. It’s open water+ with a great vibe, professional safety services and a fantastic location.

Aquathons

Those keen for some multisport action, there are also three Aquathon’s on offer with the Big 800m swim/7k run, Mini 400m swim/3k run and Kids 200m swim/2km.

Or go the double Aquathon + Open Water Swim for a big day out.

Schedule

8:30–10:00am – Registration
9:45am – 400m swim start
9:50am – 800m swim start
10:30am – 2km swim start (rolling start)
