Join SwimScape in proud support of I Am Hope, as they take on 12 miles in 12 hours to shine a light on something too often left in the shadows, men’s mental health.
This isn’t about records or bravado. It’s about showing up, for the dads juggling it all, the teens finding their way, the mates who’ve got your back, and the grandads who’ve carried the weight for years. Men from every walk of life who don’t always ask for recognition but deserve to know they’re seen, valued, and supported.
Starting at Waiake Beach, Torbay, Auckland’s North Shore, you’ll swim 1 mile on the hour, every hour, from 7 am to 7 pm. That’s 12 miles, 19.2km, and a whole lot of community spirit. You can swim all 12 or just dip in for a few; the important part is being there.
Skins, wetsuits, fins, paddles, bring whatever makes you feel good in the water. This is a space for everyone, no matter your age, background, or swim style. Together, you’ll move, breathe, and remind the blokes out there that it’s okay not to be okay.
With safety support from an IRB crew and paddle boarders (plus a few high fives along the way), all that’s left is you. Swim for yourself, swim for the men in your life, swim for those who need to hear: “We’ve got your back.”
