Social ocean swimming group meeting at Neilson’s beach surf club to decide on swim. In summer 6.30am, 7 to 7.30am winter months. We primarily enjoy distance swimming of 3 to 6.6kms but new ocean swimmers are welcome. Main challenge swims on Saturdays depending on conditions. Tuesday and Thursday swims usually 2 to 3kms. Virtually swim in all conditions. Due to the relatively protected coastline at Bargara, swells usually don’t exceed 3m. Fins OK. On perfect days a 6m swim from Neilson’s to Archies Beach return is a swim ocean swimmers would not want to miss. Around 2 rocky headlands over different species of coral and zones of white sand. Various fish species, an occasional shy sea snake, a nursery of sting rays, plus an occasional turtle. Back at Neilson’s a yummy coffee at the Surf Club’s Beach Mill cafe.
