Cape Hawke Surf Lifesaving Club was founded in 1978 to provide voluntary beach patrols at the southern end of One Mile Beach in Forster. The first clubhouse was built in 1982 and subsequently underwent major renovations in 2014.

Today, the club provides voluntary beach patrols from the beginning of the September school holidays to the end of the Easter school holidays.
