Celebrate the shortest day of the year with the 2025 Sunshine Coast Solstice Swim at Alexandra Headland Beach. Known as the “fun and must-do” community swim on the Sunshine Coast, this event brings together ocean swimming enthusiasts of all abilities to swim, smile, and support a great cause.

Every year, participants gather from near and far to take on their preferred distance under the watchful eyes of Alex Surf Lifesavers, who ensure safety with IRBs and boards. This swim is special as it’s the only swim on the coast where every dollar raised goes back into the local community. All proceeds support the incredible volunteer organisations working in areas like domestic violence, mental health, homelessness, and the cost of living. Last year, the swim helped fund the Inclusive Kids “Fuel for School” program.

New for 2025, swimmers will be provided with timing anklets, and they’ve added a 500m swim for kids and first-timers looking for a gentle introduction to ocean swimming. For the seasoned swimmers, the event continues to offer the popular 1km, 3km, and 5km swim distances.

The event’s friendly and community-focused atmosphere is supported by the amazing Alex Lifesavers, who will continue to chaperone swimmers, while Mooloolaba Yacht Club provides the oversized swim buoys to help guide the way.

All swimmers will receive:

• Fruit & drink at the finish

• Instant swim time

• Position in their male or female age group
