The Cronulla 10km is the first event of the Australian Marathon Swim Series for 2024.
The 10km swim will see swimmers start at South Cronulla Beach before swimming up to North Cronulla Beach before turning around and finishing back at South Cronulla Beach.
Swimmers must have completed a 10km swim before the event and must complete this event in four hours.
All participants must have swim support on the water which can be either a board paddler, kayaker, ski paddler, jet ski or boat. Boat support and skippers must stay within 10 metres of the swimmer and a member of the support team must always have eyes on the swimmer.
All support crew must carry a phone in a waterproof case and be a part of the event WhatsApp for communication purposes during the event.
Swimmers will start at South Cronulla Beach before swimming to Oak Park Rock Pool around the checkpoint boat. From here swimmers will head outside of Shark Island and towards North Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club.
Swimmers need to swim on the inside of the allocated swim markers which are situated 300m – 500m off the beach clear of the surf break, surf club activity and surfers. From here swimmers will head to the Boat Harbour and turn around the next checkpoint boat, before heading back to South Cronulla Beach.
