          About

The Island Charity Swim at Mudjimba on the Sunshine Coast is a true test of endurance for long-distance ocean swimmers.

At 10km, it’s one of the longer open water swims on offer in Australia. The course will take you from Mudjimba Beach, around Mudjimba Island (affectionately known as Old Woman Island by locals) to Mooloolaba Beach – quite the journey and plenty of beautiful sights to see!

This event is a major fundraiser for the children at the Nambour and Currimundi Special schools, located nearby and swimmers can choose to participate either solo or in teams of up to six swimmers.

Along with your entry fee, each swimmer/team is required to meet a minimum fundraising goal to meet registration requirements and gain entry; $200 for an individual, $300 for a team of two, $450 for teams of three or four and $600 for teams of five or six.

While you’re there, make the most of the beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches and chilled coast life by making a weekend of it.

Note: This is an open ocean event with a course that takes swimmers approximately two kilometres offshore. Therefore, all swimmers are required to have a support crew of a paddler and a safety vessel. Please view the official event website for more information, including their extensive FAQ’s.

          Swim Courses

The 11km course starts at Mudjimba Beach and heads directly out to Mudjimba Island, where you’ll circumnavigate the island in an anti-clockwise direction, before making a beeline for Mooloolaba Beach (which is south of where you started).

          While you’re there

Soak up the Mooloolaba scene when you shop and dine along the glamorous beachfront esplanade full of outdoor cafes, juice bars, alfresco restaurants, and fashion boutiques.

Check out UnderWater World, take more advantage of the warm water with a surf lesson or rent a bike and go cruising.

To eat like the locals, head to Ric’s Garage Deli on The Esplanade for lovely staff, a chilled environment and a delicious breakfast.

          Travel and parking

In an event like this there are lots of people to organise, including ground and water crew, so it can be quite the effort to string it all together. We suggest getting your team together a few week’s out from the event and planning out what will happen on the day, including what you’ll need and where you’ll need to be, and when you’ll need to be there.
