There’s something pretty special about lining up for an inaugural ocean swim. The buzz feels different, the community spirit runs deep, and everyone there knows they’re part of the beginning of something good.
The Deep South Cliff Swim at Clifton Beach is exactly that. Hosted by Clifton Beach SLSC as part of the Tasmanian Ocean Swim Series, this new addition to the calendar invites swimmers to experience a course hugged by dramatic coastal cliffs and protected waters. It’s southern Tassie at its salty best.
Whether you’re stepping into your first 500m ocean swim or settling into a strong 2km rhythm, this event is all about participation, connection, and enjoying the ocean together. The beach start, the backdrop of rugged cliffs, the surf club community on hand, it’s the kind of morning that reminds you why you swim.
Make a weekend of it too. With the Carlton Park Team Challenge the day before, it’s shaping up to be a full weekend of ocean swimming in Tasmania. Two swims, plenty of salty chats, and maybe a coffee or two to top it off.
