If you’re planning to travel to Coffs Harbour, we recommend locking in your accommodation early. The NSW Oztag Junior State Cup is also taking place that weekend, and it’s expected to be busy across town.
Looking for a relaxed ocean swim with postcard-perfect water, a friendly festival vibe, and a setting that feels like a holiday? The Coffs Coast Ocean Swims tick all the boxes, and then some.
Held in the calm, protected waters of Jetty Beach, this event is a firm favourite with families, first-timers, seasoned locals, and salty travellers alike. It’s the kind of day where you’ll see kids doing their first swim, regulars catching up in the shallows, and visiting ocean lovers soaking up the atmosphere and the sun.
There’s a swim for everyone, whether you’re dipping your toe in with a shorter distance or chasing that longer cruise around the buoys. The vibe is low-pressure and high-stoke, and you’re guaranteed to walk away with that warm post-swim glow (and probably a sand-covered smile).
Whether it’s your first ocean swim or your fiftieth, this is one you’ll want to come back to year after year.

Jetty Beach is one of the safest and most accessible ocean swim locations in NSW. Located inside the marina breakwall, the beach is protected from swell and current, making it ideal for less experienced swimmers and juniors.
Expect 24–26°C water, light chop, and sunshine in late March. The beach has great spectator views and a grassy foreshore perfect for a post-swim chill.
Wetsuits are optional but rarely needed. This is one of the calmest swims in NSW. Lifesavers are stationed throughout the course. Swimmers should be comfortable in the water but don’t need to be elite.
It’s all about participation, confidence, and community.

Jetty Beach is as convenient as it is beautiful, well-serviced with plenty of parking, toilets, shade, and all the essentials for a smooth swim day. There’s loads of grassy space for picnics, shady trees to stretch out under post-swim, and easy access to everything you’ll need before and after your splash.
The beach is just a short stroll from the Jetty Strip cafés, Sunday markets and Marina shops where you’ll find great coffee, cold drinks, and brunch options for all tastes. Whether you’re staying nearby or rolling in for the day, you’re only a 5-minute drive from the Coffs Harbour town centre, with heaps of accommodation, shops, and services close by.
Public transport makes it easy too; local buses run regularly from around Coffs Harbour, including routes from the town centre, Park Beach, and surrounding suburbs. The Coffs Harbour train station is also nearby, just a few minutes’ walk or a short ride from the beach, making it accessible for swimmers arriving from up or down the coast.
So whether you’re driving, walking, busing or training it in, Jetty Beach makes arrival and departure a breeze, just don’t forget to leave time for a coffee and a yarn before the starting horn!
The Coffs Coast Ocean Swims don’t stop at the finish line; there’s plenty to explore, eat, and enjoy once you towel off.
