Why this event?

Swim round the Cerberus ship wreck

The Cerberus Swim Classic is one of Victoria’s longest-running open-water swim events, taking place at the iconic Half Moon Bay.

A fan favourite among many Victorians and it’s easy to see why with its buzzing atmosphere every year.

This event has two distances on offer; a 1.2km or 2.5km swim. There is also a 200m and 300m Junior Dash.

The Cerberus Swim Classic also has a corporate team option for the 1.2km event which is a great opportunity for some workplace bonding and competitive rivalry to shine through.

The Cerberus Swim Classic is the eighth and second last swim of the Great Victorian Swim Series for the season.

While you're there

There are a few activities you can enjoy without even leaving Half Moon Bay post ocean swim.

The first being take a swim out to the sunken HMVS Cerberus battleship which scuttled 200m offshore. The naval ship is full of history and is a naval ship that predates the Australian Federation in 1901. It was decommissioned shortly after World War One and has since served as a breakwater in the bay. It is a stunning sight both from the water and from the sand.

If you want to see a spectacular sight of nature, take a walk up to the Red Rock Bluff Lookout at the northern end of the beach. From here you can enjoy the sights of amazing rock formations along the coast, and the stunning view over Port Phillip Bay.

The Cerberus Beach House Restaurant, provides beautiful views over Port Phillip Bay while enjoying delicious fresh seafood.

The Cerberus Beach House also has a kiosk, where you can pick up delicious take away food to enjoy on the beach; the fish and chips, chicken burger and bacon and egg burger are local favourites.
