The Rip View Swim Classic is an open water swim event that occurs annually in Point Lonsdale on the tip of the stunning Bellarine Peninsula overlooking the famous entrance of the Port Phillip Bay commonly known as ‘The Rip.’
While ‘The Rip’ is famously known for its treacherous waters the swim courses for this event are well protected from the predominant winds and most swell, with the courses boating beautiful clean shallow waters.
The event offers 600m, 1.4km and 3.8km swims with the courses taking swimmers on a unique stretched-out layout that follows the curve of Lonsdale Bay inside the head of Port Phillip Bay.
In 2020 the Rip View Swim Classic introduced the 600m Groyne2Groyne “Legends” handicap race where swimming legends such as Sam Sheppard race swimmers aged between 10-15 years old.
Over 1000 participants hit the water for the Rip View Classic each year with it being a great way to enjoy a family day of ocean swimming followed by a day of exploring the beautiful Port Phillip Bay.
This event is the second event in the Great Victorian Swim Series.
