The Aquaculture Ocean Swim is everything you want in a classic ocean swim: clean surf, scenic views, and just enough swell to keep things spicy. This 2km loop off North Curl Curl is a staple for Northern Beaches swimmers who love a solid, satisfying challenge without straying too far from the sand. It’s a swim with surf club spirit and coastal energy baked in.
But if you’re up for something legendary, the True Protein 3 Points Challenge is where it’s at. This unique swim-run epic links North Curl Curl, South Curl Curl, and Freshwater Beach in one heart-pounding, salt-soaked circuit. You’ll duck dive, run trails, surf break your way south, and finish feeling like you’ve just conquered your own mini-Ironman.
It’s not just an event, it’s an adventure across some of Sydney’s most iconic beaches, cheered on by locals, surf lifesavers, and fellow ocean lovers.
Whether you’re gliding through the waves or testing your limits on land and sea, this is a day that sticks with you. Bring your mates, lace up your joggers, and dive into one of the most exhilarating events the Northern Beaches has to offer.

North Curl Curl is a surf beach with moderate swell, consistent waves, and a clean break. The 2km swim takes place in a triangular loop off the beach, while the 3 Points Challenge includes multiple swim and run legs along the cliffs, beaches, and sand trails.
Water temps in early November are around 19–21°C, and conditions range from calm to punchy depending on the swell.
Wetsuits optional but recommended for the 3 Points Challenge due to multiple swim legs. Water safety is extensive, with IRBs, lifeguards, and course marshals throughout.
This event is physically demanding, participants should have solid ocean experience and general fitness for the 3 Points Challenge.

North Curl Curl Surf Life Saving Club sits snugly at the southern end of the beach, right where the action kicks off.
There are two fairly decent beach car parks if you’re driving in. The largest is off Griffin Street, just south of the surf club, and another can be found at the end of Huston Parade on the north side of the lagoon. You’ll also find limited street parking nearby, plus a few overflow spots around the local playing fields, but they fill up faster than a set wave on a sunny day.
Carpooling with your swim mates is always a good shout, or leave the car behind and catch public transport. Jump on a B-Line bus from the city to Dee Why or Brookvale, then grab a local bus or enjoy the scenic walk over the headland to North Curly. It’s a great way to ease into the day (and check out the view from above!).
Expect classic Northern Beaches vibes, laid-back, friendly, and perfect for a full day of salty adventure. Look out for signage and volunteers to guide you to the action.
Post-swim hunger is real, and North Curly has you covered. The surf club BBQ will be sizzling, so grab a bacon and egg roll or a sausage sanga straight off the grill. For something a little more café-style, head to Gusto on the Beach for your recovery fix; think smoothies, brekky wraps, and strong coffee served with ocean views.
Feeling like stretching the legs? Take the scenic coastal walk around the headland to South Curl Curl or even all the way to Freshwater. There are ocean pools, lookout points, and plenty of spots to park yourself on a rock and watch the waves roll in.
If you’re after more food options, The Beach Shed at South Curly is a local favourite for brunch and coffee. Or head inland a little to The Nook in North Curl Curl for something hearty and homestyle, or Albert & Moore in Freshwater for something a bit more health-focused and stylish.
And don’t rush off, stick around and cheer on the finishers of the True Protein 3 Points Challenge. That final beach sprint is a full-throttle, crowd-pleasing moment, with runners storming home after an epic tour of Curl Curl and Freshie. It’s one of the most exciting finishes in ocean sport.
Bring a towel, grab a bite, find a patch of sand, and make a morning of it. This is classic Northern Beaches magic.
