If you’re a dedicated fan of pool swimming and open water marathon swimming, here is a quick guide to the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics swimming schedule so you don’t miss a lap.

When are the Paris Olympics?

The Games begin on Friday, 26 July 2024, and will close on Sunday, 11 August 2024.

Where can I watch the Olympics in Australia?

Channel Nine has the broadcasting rights to all Paris Olympic content in Australia. You can also catch up on the latest replays and highlights on-demand via 9Now.

Streaming platform Stan, will also be broadcasting all of the Olympic content both live and on-demand.

When can I watch the Olympics pool swimming events?

A 41-strong Australian team will contest the pool swimming events from 27 July to 4 August. If you’re looking for a specific Heat or race – you can see the full schedule of swimming events online.

Heats will be broadcast in the evening from 7 pm in Australia, with finals taking place from 4:30 am.

I’m in NZ, where can I watch the Olympic swimming events?

Sky Sport has the New Zealand broadcast rights for the 2024 Olympics.

Heats will be broadcast in the late evening from 9 pm in New Zealand, with finals taking place at the watchable time of 6:30 am.

When can I watch the Olympic marathon swimming events?

The open water marathon swimming events make waves on Thursday, 8 August (Womens) and Friday, 9 August (Mens). Start time is 3:30 pm (AEST) / 5:30 pm (NZT) both days – be sure to doublecheck your local time.

Who should I keep an eye out for?

From a open water perspective, Australia has fielded its first full team of four: Chelsea Gubecka, Moesha Johnson (also swimming in the pool), Nick Sloman, and Kyle Lee.

Also keep track of Sam Short and Lani Pallister, both regulars on the ocean and surf swimming scene, but racing in the pool.

There is a team of nine kiwi swimmers representing Aotearoa, but it doesn’t include a marathon swimmer.

When are the Paralympics swimming events?

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be held from Wednesday, 28 August to Sunday, 8 September, with the swimming events taking place from 29 August to 7 September. You can view the schedule here.
