Why this event?

Swim summer in style at Noosa’s premier ocean swim festival.

It’s summer in Noosa, the sun’s out, and the ocean’s calling; this is what ocean swimming dreams are made of.

The Noosa Summer Swim isn’t just an event; it’s one of Australia’s most iconic ocean swim festivals, drawing swimmers from across the country for a weekend of saltwater, smiles, and stunning coastal scenery. Set against the backdrop of Noosa Main Beach, this festival-style swim is all about good vibes, personal goals, and soaking up that legendary Sunshine Coast energy.

Whether you’re taking your first plunge in the 1km, building towards a mid-distance challenge, or going all-in with the 5km long course, there’s something here for every swimmer, from first-timers to seasoned ocean athletes. With multiple distances across the weekend, you can test yourself, team up with mates, or come back for round two the next day.

And new for 2026, all eyes will be on the Knockout Sprint Relay – a high-energy crowd favourite that brings a World Championship format to Noosa. Swimmers race through 1000m, 500m and 250m sprints, with only the fastest advancing each round. It’s fast, fun, and made for big cheers from the sand, giving the festival an extra burst of atmosphere as competitors sprint for glory.

The swim courses hug Noosa’s beautiful coastline, taking you past iconic headlands, through clear turquoise water, and alongside local legends and swim squads who know this stretch like the back of their hand. And with spectators lining the beach, the cheers, cowbells, and coastal buzz will carry you all the way to the finish.

But the real magic? It’s the atmosphere, relaxed yet electric, supportive, and full of summer spirit. From post-swim dips to brunch at Hastings Street, every moment here feels like part of a holiday with a purpose.

The Noosa Summer Swim is more than a swim; it’s a sun-drenched memory in the making. So grab your goggles, your crew, and your sense of adventure. Noosa’s waiting.

What's on offer

300m Ocean Swim
  • Junior Giants
  • 8 - 16 years
The Junior Giants event is the perfect chance for kids aged 8–16 years to dive into the ocean swimming world in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Swimmers will start from the beach, swim out and around two clearly marked buoys, then head back to shore for a finish that’s all smiles and high-fives. It’s a great way for young swimmers to build confidence and compete alongside others their own age. To make the experience even more special, family and friends are encouraged to join in and swim the course alongside the kids (just be sure to give them space to shine!). It’s all about having fun, staying safe, and making memories in the salt and sun.

The Noosa 1.0 is the perfect introduction to ocean swimming. Set in the calm, sheltered waters of Noosa, it’s ideal for first-timers or anyone looking to build confidence before stepping up to longer distances. Swimmers will begin with a beach start, heading out into the bay before turning right at the first buoy, continuing across to the second buoy, and then making another right-hand turn to swim back toward shore for a classic Noosa finish. Whether you’re new to the sport or just after a cruisy, feel-good swim, the Noosa 1.0 is a great way to be part of the action and soak up the unbeatable summer energy.

The Noosa 2.0 is the most popular swim on the program, and for good reason. Set in the stunning waters off Noosa Main Beach, this classic course offers the perfect mix of distance, scenery, and summer swim vibes. Swimmers start near Noosa National Park, heading out into the bay and following a line of buoys before making a right-hand turn at the final buoy to cruise back to shore for a beachside finish. Whether you’re chasing a time or ticking off your first long course swim, the Noosa 2.0 is a crowd favourite for all levels. New to ocean swimming? Join the Mates Wave, a relaxed start group designed for first-timers and weekend warriors who want to take on the challenge with friends by their side. It’s a beautiful swim, a buzzing atmosphere, and a Sunshine Coast memory in the making.
3km Ocean Swim
  • Noosa 3.0
  • 12 years
Ready to go beyond the usual 1km or 2km challenge? The Noosa 3.0 is your next step up, a rewarding mid-distance swim that’s ideal for building endurance or preparing for a longer event down the track. This course follows the same layout as the 2.0km swim, with an additional lap to stretch it out to the full 3km. It’s a great way to test your pacing, enjoy more time in the water, and soak up the stunning Noosa coastline. Make sure to check the course maps ahead of time and listen to the pre-race briefing on the day for any final updates or course clarifications. The Noosa 3.0 is a solid goal for regular swimmers looking for that extra challenge, with plenty of support, ocean magic, and post-swim buzz to match.
5km Ocean Swim
  • Noosa 5.0
  • 13 years
This is the big one. The Noosa 5.0 is a marathon-distance swim and the ultimate test of endurance in the Noosa Summer Swim line-up. Contested by some of Australia’s most talented pool and open water athletes, it’s a multi-lap challenge that rewards stamina, strategy, and serious ocean spirit. Set in the sheltered waters off Noosa Main Beach, the course offers ideal conditions for going the distance, smooth water, clear sightlines, and a scenic loop that keeps you close to the action (and the cheering crowd). Whether you’re racing for a podium or pushing your personal best, this is your chance to step beyond the standard open water distances and prove what you’re made of. Be sure to check the course map and listen carefully to the pre-race briefing for lap counts and turn details, especially with multiple swims taking place on the day. The Noosa 5.0 is more than just a swim; it’s a milestone.
