ResetGotcha4Life founder Gus Worland will start the 40th Anniversary Cole Classic as swim team approaches half a million in funds raised.
Gotcha4Life founder and Australian television and radio personality, Gus Worland, will be behind the starter pistol at 7.45 on Sunday for the Cole Classic Ocean Swim along with the event’s largest single fundraiser, Stephen Flannery.
In the past 13 years, Stephen Flannery MD of Fugen Constructions and his swim team – including colleagues, family and friends – have raised about $420,000 for charities of their choice by entering the Cole Classic.
With the pandemic putting extra pressure on people, this year Stephen and the team chose Gotcha4Life, the mental health charity with the vision – zero suicides, simple as that – for their fundraising efforts. So far they have raised just over $44,000.
But you don’t have to be a swimmer to work for Fugen Constructions. While a couple of his colleagues will attempt the 5km race, Stephen will lead most of his team of 60 people proudly in the fun, 1km ‘back of the pack’ category. Others will run the post-swim bbq.
With only hours to go before entries close for the world’s largest swimming event, enter now and you can even take the option of supporting a charity of your choice.
Your entry fee goes towards running the event and supporting the Manly Life Saving Club. Last year swimmers raised $145,000.
