The Easter holidays are nearly upon us which means an extra-long weekend to enjoy ocean swimming before the season wraps up.
Whether you’re staying at home or hitting the road, there’s an ocean swim event waiting for you to get involved and support the local community organisers.
We’ve compiled a list of ocean swims, to make it easier for you to find a swim near you, over the Easter holidays.
The Terrigal Ocean Swim Classic has an exciting set of open-water swims for the whole family to enjoy and kick off the Easter Weekend in style.
This year the event has partnered with the Cancer Council for the first-ever Daffodil Dip which is a fun 400m swim where swimmers swim out to Goldie (the yellow buoy) and back again.
If you’re after something a little more challenging, there is also a 1km and 2km ocean swim which takes swimmers around the stunning waters of Terrigal Beach.
Be sure to make it a beach day post-swim and bring your surfboard to shred up the waves or sunbathe while enjoying the beautiful views of Terrigal. Once you’ve had enough of the sand and ocean, head up for a walk to the Skillion Lookout and be wowed by the breathtaking views.
Enter the Terrigal Ocean Swim Classic
The Tilbury Classic is the perfect way to kick off the Easter weekend on Saturday, 8 April 2023.
The Tilbury Classic is an exciting open-water swim at the beautiful Culburra Beach, in the Nowra Region on the New South Wales South Coast.
Swimmers will take a 1.9km swim journey around a stunning headland and through the pristine ocean full of sea life and over reefs.
Why not make it an Easter weekend getaway where you can enjoy the beautiful picnic areas and
Grotto Walk and Bomaderry Creek walking tracks.
Enter the Tilbury Classic
The Rock To Rock & Mini Rock Ocean Swim is a fun and family-friendly way to kick off Easter Sunday.
Held at the beautiful Pacific Palms, Elizabeth Beach on New South Wales’s lower north coast, the event has an ocean swim for swimmers of all abilities. Elizabeth Beach is a rare north-facing beach, which is protected from big swells and rough weather meaning it’s the perfect ocean swim for those new to open water swimming.
Swimmers can choose from the 600m Mini Rock Swim or the 1.5km Rock to Rock for those ten years and over. Do one or both if you want to challenge yourself.
Once you finish your swim be sure to hang around and enjoy the Easter Sunday afternoon by immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the area filled with picnic areas, walking tracks and beautiful beaches.
Enter the Rock To Rock & Mini Rock Ocean Swim
The SSCBC Easter Swim is a fun event to kick off Easter Sunday at the Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club.
Swimmers can choose from either a 600m or 1.2km open water swim in the beautiful waters of Sorrento.
Be sure to stick around post-swim and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat while overlooking the stunning Sorrento Foreshore.
The SunSmart Southern Ocean Classic takes place at the stunning Ocean Beach, in Denmark, Western Australia.
This 1.6km ocean swim takes swimmers along the beautiful waters of Ocean Beach and swimmers 13 years and over can enjoy the fun conditions on offer.
Swimmers are eligible for prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall winners and male and female age group categories.
All swimmers who enter before 5 pm Friday, 7th April will go into the early bird draw to win a prize of three nights of accommodation at the Denmark Ocean Beach Holiday Park, valued at $700.
What better way to kick off the Easter Weekend than with an ocean swim at one of New Zealand’s best surf beaches, Mount Maunganui.
The Mount Swim offers swimmers three ocean swims; a 500m, 1.25km and 2.8km ocean swim with the latter taking swimmers around Rabbit and Leisure Islands.
There is also a 100m and 200m kids swim in the shallows of Mount’s Main Beach, so the whole family can get involved.
Don’t forget to enjoy the spectacular natural beachfront, island and mountain landscape views surrounding you on your swim.
Make a day of it post-swim and enjoy the vibrant dining scene, outdoor activities and shopping the region has to offer.
